Hi, I'm Andrew Adcroft. I own and run Razorline web development. I take great pride in creating websites for clients and I like to get to know the people that I'm building them for.
Here is a little bit of history about me.
I was brought up in Connel near Oban, a small fishing port on the west coast of Scotland. As far back as I can remember, I found myself to be fascinated by computers of all kinds. I used to read magazines and newspapers raving about these new 'personal computers'. I remember being in primary school when the teachers revealed the results of months of fundraising; a brand new BBC Micro computer with full monochrome monitor! Oh the excitement. I remember having to share it with about a hundred others in our little country school.
I remember being around 12 years old, I would constantly hassle my parents to get the family a computer. After many months of trying to convince them that computers would be the next big thing, I was lucky enough to be bought one. It was a brand new Amstrad CPC464 and I got it for Christmas. I loved my computer although the games did get tiring quite quickly. I would sit there for what seemed like an age while Harrier Attack loaded on the tape drive. I used to watch the screen intently for 15 minutes or more patiently wait for it to load. More often than not, I would be presented with the dreaded ‘Syntax Error...' message just as it was about to finish.
I preferred to while away the hours on my Amstrad programming in 'Basic', I used to thoroughly enjoy making up programs that could be used to run a shop or warehouse. Where the goods had codes with prices attached and the computer would work out the totals at the end. Come to think of it, not much has really changed. I still enjoy creating code that has a tangible outcome, I think it’s the anticipation of seeing the end result in all its tested glory. I continued to develop small programs in my spare time. There was a period in my teens were I got distracted from computers by things like girls and going out with friends until the internet came along. I now had a way to create things that the whole world could see and so I started teaching myself web design. Creating little websites for people was fine but I had no credentials. I decided I would go to university at get myself a degree.
University, for me was a highly enjoyable time and dare I say it, a little easy. Maybe because I knew so much of it before I got there or maybe because I found it very easy to learn about subjects that fascinated me. Even the most mundane things like reading and writing binary code were fun. I had some fantastic lecturers, some inspired my interest in website accessibility and useability. I put what I have learnt into practice every day. In 2005 I graduated from the Glasgow Caledonian University.. I have been developing websites ever since.
Here is some information about Razorline.
Since 2005, Razorline web development has been creating websites and web applications for businesses and individuals.
Here at Razorline, we are committed to providing businesses with high quality, accessible and usable websites. The websites built are a blend of stylish graphics coupled with maximum functionality. Each website is built with search engine optimisation in mind. The way in which websites are designed affects how they will rank in the search engines. We have many years experience in this aspect of development and take pride in delivering the best possible solution.
Website accessibility is becoming increasingly important and as mentioned above Razorline design pages that will reach as many people as possible. Every website created is tested for cross browser compatibility. This basically means that your site displays correctly no matter which browser your visitor is using. Razorline design websites that conform to the Standards set out by the W3C (www.w3c.org).
This involves writing the code for the pages in XHTML and controlling styles and layout using CSS (Cascading Style Sheets).
